HYDROLIZATY BIAŁKOWE
Proteins from food are mainly a source of amino acids. Their value is most often assessed according to nutritional criteria, e.g. digestibility or allergenic properties. A new, additional criterion for assessing proteins concerns their potential biological activity and the possibility of releasing active peptides from their structure using enzymes or physicochemical factors. Bioactive peptides can be defined as protein fragments that remain inactive in their sequence, but after being released by proteolytic enzymes, they can interact with appropriate receptors in the body, regulating its functions. Biopeptides with defined biological activity are constantly sought. Modern methods for isolating, identifying and characterizing innovative properties in terms of the content of bioactive peptides or the presence of their protein precursors could be used in the production of functional health-promoting food, dietary supplements, cosmetics and preparations that allow for the elimination or reduction of the use of preservatives. The research methods used by Biolive Innovation enable the identification of bioactive peptides of natural origin and the determination of their properties. Biopeptides are created in our laboratory as a result of a unique, multi-stage process of protein hydrolysis by enzymes of different specificity. For our mixtures, we select peptides with the best antioxidant, antihypertensive, antibacterial, and antiviral properties. The mixtures that come out of our laboratory are called proteopeptides.

POSSIBILITIES OF PEPTIDES' APPLICATION
FUNCTIONAL FOOD
The addition of biologically active peptides will provide consumers with ingredients with health-promoting and/or therapeutic effects. The relationship between diet and health is one of the elements of the prevention of many diseases and a factor affecting the comfort of human life. Consumers expect food to fulfill nutritional functions and to be able to delay the appearance of the so-called lifestyle diseases and alleviating their course. This contributed to the development of the functional food market, i.e. products that have a beneficial effect on human health beyond the level resulting from their nutritional value.
We encourage all customers to check the possibility of adding proteopeptides to the composition of their product in our laboratory. Proteopeptides are highly soluble in many substances. Laboratory tests will allow for the assessment of the effectiveness of individual functionalities (e.g. antioxidants) of the product with the addition of proteopoptides. Taste tests will allow you to select the optimal amount of proteopeptide and ensure appropriate quality/price ratio.
Proteopeptides combine perfectly with juices, yogurts, loose or solid products, etc.
COSMETICS
It is no secret that the cosmetics industry is subject to market trends, just like any other. In addition to virtually unchanged ingredients (such as Q10, collagen, vitamin C, etc.), recent seasons have seen trends include all kinds of anti-smog barriers, bamboo charcoal, hemp, succinic acid, white truffles, etc. The market for eco-cosmetics, especially the so-called refrigerators” (with a short shelf life due to the lack of preservatives in the composition). Of course, the main goal of cosmetics manufacturers is always the same - to develop active ingredients and methods that will slow down or inhibit unfavorable processes occurring in the skin.
We encourage all customers to check the possibility of adding proteopeptides to the composition of their cosmetics in our laboratory. Proteopeptides are highly soluble in many substances, but it is worth performing a test before introducing the product to the market. Additionally, the physicochemical properties of proteopeptides can be slightly changed by modifying production processes. In this way, we achieve a perfect match of proteopeptides to the type of product with which it is to be combined.
EGG YOLK HYDROLYSATES
Get to know our flagship products: protein hydrolysates from chicken egg yolks (M23 - dried, M5 - freeze-dried). These are preparations of natural origin, created as a result of enzymatic hydrolysis. These are unique products on the European market.
The main components are peptides weighing less than 5 kDa. Thanks to their small size, these ingredients are very easily digestible . It does not contain artificial additives, and thanks to their natural origin, all ingredients can be fully used by the human body. These are unique mixtures of peptides, and each of the ingredients present in the mixture is characterized by a different spectrum of action. The final product identified peptides with anti-inflammatory, blood pressure-lowering, anticancer, antiviral and antibacterial properties, among others. In addition , the inhibitory effect of yolk peptides on the growth of bacteria found in food has been demonstrated, including: from the genera Bacillus, Serratia and Brevundimonas. The antibacterial and antifungal properties of the obtained product enable its use not only as a dietary supplement that strengthens immunity , but also creates the prospect of potential use as a natural food or cosmetic preservative.
Both M23 and M5 are also an excellent source of all natural protein amino acids, including exogenous ones that the body cannot synthesize on its own, essential for proper functioning. Their proportions are similar to those optimal for the human body, which is confirmed by the World Health Organization (WHO) which recognizes the egg as a complete reference protein .
DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS
The market of dietary supplements is growing very dynamically and has not been harmed by the pandemic - on the contrary - consumers have become more interested in increasing their body's immunity and additional health-promoting functions of the supplements they take, because the pandemic or quarantine period often exposed imperfections and even diseases in their bodies.
Proteopeptides are perfect for use in encapsulated multivitamin and multimineral preparations, and they work well in combination with probiotics. The ideal group of consumers of proteopeptides are also athletes and people on a diet who support their bodies with supplementation.
HEMP SEED HYDROLYZED PROTEIN
Hemp peptides produced in the process of enzymatic hydrolysis have numerous health-promoting properties: antihypertensive, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, hypocholesterolemic, antithrombotic, immunomodulatory, and memory enhancing. The K5 product we developed - dried hemp protein hydrolysate - is an innovation on a global scale. Hemp itself (Cannabis sativa L.) is classified as an herb and has long, thin flowers and pointed leaves. This plant has been known and used for thousands of years. It was cultivated all over the world until the early 1920s, when the size of crops decreased dramatically (at that time the cultivation of plants that were a source of tetrahydrocannabinol was banned). Only recently has this plant been coming back into favor - as a source of food, cooking oil and a raw material for the production of fibers and medicines. A valuable part of hemp is, among others, its seeds (it contains up to 35% fat, protein approx. 25%, carbohydrates approx. 28%). Hemp seed fat is characterized by a very favorable composition of fatty acids, which makes these seeds a valuable component of the human diet and animal feed. These seeds also contain valuable proteins, which, thanks to their amino acid composition, have antioxidant effects. The protein composition of these seeds makes them an excellent natural source of amino acids, which has been noticed and many different products based on hemp seeds have been introduced to the market, such as: snacks, defatted flour, protein shakes, hemp milk (vanilla or chocolate flavor), bars. The presence of the psychoactive compound - tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in the protein fraction of hemp is trace, and the producers of this raw material verify its content with independent laboratory tests. The main proteins of this raw material are albumin and edestin, which are a rich source of exogenous amino acids. Compared to egg white (recognized by WHO as the reference protein) and to soy protein, it showed that hemp protein is comparable to other high-quality proteins. It is characterized by, among other things, the appropriate content of arginine and glutamic acid. Vegetable proteins can be a source of bioactive peptides. One of them is antioxidant activity, which consists in neutralizing the harmful effects of reactive oxygen species. It is important to be aware that reactive oxygen species, as well as free radicals, play a key role in the development of degenerative and cancerous diseases in the human body. The human body is equipped with natural mechanisms to neutralize the adverse effects of reactive oxygen species. They consist of the use of endogenous antioxidants. However, excessive exposure to oxidative factors can overwhelm the protective capabilities of endogenous antioxidants, which can lead to increased oxidative stress. Excessive amounts of reactive oxygen species in the body can result in damage to cell membranes, proteins, enzymes and DNA, leading to the development of chronic diseases. The presence of amino acids such as histidine, tyrosine, methionine, lysine, tryptophan and proline increases the antioxidant power of protein-rich foods and helps counteract oxidative stress. In order for bioactive peptides to fulfill their function in the body, protein hydrolysis is necessary. Proteolytic enzymes are used for this purpose. The antioxidant properties of the obtained hydrolysates largely depend on the specificity of the enzymes, the degree of hydrolysis and the nature of the released peptides, including molecular weight, amino acid composition and hydrophobicity. There are a number of studies on factors influencing the antioxidant activity of protein hydrolysates obtained from hemp seeds. In vitro studies have shown that protein hydrolysate from hemp seeds effectively counteracts oxidative processes. The ability of the obtained peptides to scavenge hydroxyl radicals and DPPH, reduce ferric ions and chelate metal ions indicates their potential use in counteracting metabolic disorders that arise due to excessive levels of reactive oxygen species. Hemp peptides can be used in the design of functional foods and nutraceuticals with a wide spectrum of bioactivity. In vivo studies also confirm the antioxidant effects of hemp peptides. The mechanism of action of hemp seed peptides seems to include regulation of antioxidant enzyme activity, radical scavenging and inhibition of lipid peroxidation.
